The Huizinga Institute is organizing a workshop entitled Cultural Associations in the Long 19th Century: Agents of Transnational (Ex)change intended for all young researchers interested in political and cultural infrastructures in a transnational context. Its aim is to situate musical societies in a broader cultural and historical context and to foster interdisciplinary dialogue.

This event will take place on Wednesday 21 November from 10:00 to 17:00 hrs in the VOC-zaal of the Bushuis, University of Amsterdam (Kloveniersburgwal 48, 1012 CX Amsterdam).

This occasion will serve as a “prelude” to the International KVNM Conference to be held in the Paushuize in Utrecht from 22-24 November 2018 on the topic of Musicological Societies as Intermediaries between Society, Musical Life and Academia.
